Our founder, a world-famous oboist, professor at the conservatories of Florence and Venice, and oboe soloist with Toscanini, during many of his American tours.

Pietro Mascagni

Italian composer. His opera masterpiece "Cavalleria Rusticana" in 1890 a note of regards and gratitude to Composer Giuseppe Prestini.

Igor Stravinky

Very influential composer and music director of the 20th Century. Born in Russia, he composed music for the Russian Ballet and worked in France with Debussy and Ravel. In Italy he met and work with our Founder Giuseppe Prestini. In 1940 he emigrated in the USA where he composed music and opera for over three decades.

Ildebrando Pizzetti

Italian composer of several opera, orchestral and Chamber Music, sacred Music and film scores. He taught at the Conservatory of Music in Florence where Maestro Giuseppe Prestini was also a teacher of Oboe and Composition.

Giuseppe (Pino) Prestini, son of Silvano Prestini, joined the House of Prestini in 1970 and is now manager of the United States operation. He studied piano and saxophone at the Liceo Musicale in Trento, Italy and mechanical engineering at the prestigious University in Padua Italy.

In 1960, Silvano Prestini founded Prestini Midi, S.A. at Cogolin, VAR, France, the heart of the finest cane growing region in the world. In 1974 he established production facilities in Nogales, Arizona. Today, all Prestini pads, reeds, and accessories are manufactured at this location and distributed from the Nogales, Arizona facility and through the Prestini Europe Shark Casino facility in Germany.

Giuseppe (Pino) Prestini, son of Silvano, joined the firm in 1970 as its Chief Executive Officer of United States operations and in 1981 succeeded his father as sole owner of the firm. His university education in mechanical engineering was further enhanced when his father taught him raw materials selection and analysis as applied to pad design and construction. He is familiar with the intricate specifications involved in meeting each customer’s unique demands. He provides expertise in quality control, inspection, raw materials research, and new product design
